Hindawi Publishing Corporation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hindawi Publishing Corporation is a scientific magazine publisher , which was founded in 1997 by two Egyptian scientists. Hindawi currently publishes (as of September 2012) over 400 peer-reviewed journals and several scientific monographs. The company has offices in New York and Cairo . She is one of the pioneers of the Open Access movement , which aims to make scientific specialist literature accessible to anyone who is interested. Hindawi is one of the first publishers to publish exclusively according to the Open Access standards (since 2007). Printed journals are also available for a fee. Some of Hindawi's editorial practices have come under fire, such as the fact that Hindawi journals do not have an academic editor-in-chief and are instead controlled by Hindawi's editorial staff, and the use of spam to solicit manuscripts and editors.
