Hippeus (strategos)
Hippeus ( ancient Greek Ἱππεύς ) was a strategos from Samos who was involved in the Peloponnesian War .
He commanded in the battle of the Arginus in 406 BC. The ten Sami ships that fought alongside the Athenian fleet against Sparta and its allies. In Xenophon's representation , his ships were in the center of the first row of the fleet, between the ships of the Athenian strategoi Aristocrates as the left wing and Diomedon as the right wing. Hippeus' ships were lined up to make it difficult for the Spartan fleet to break through.
