Johannes Sundwall

Johannes Sundwall (born November 15, 1877 in Nykarleby , † August 29, 1966 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish ancient historian and classical philologist .

Sundwall studied in Helsingfors , Munich (1904–1905) and Berlin (1905). In 1906 he received his doctorate in Helsingfors. In 1907 he became a private lecturer (Swedish docent ) at the University of Helsingfors, from 1919 he taught at the Swedish-speaking Åbo Akademi , from 1921 to 1945 as a professor of ancient history and Greek and Roman literature.

Since 1963 he was a corresponding member of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin .
