Cadmos. Zeitschrift für Pre- und Early Greek Epigraphik is a specialized scientific journal in the field of Greek epigraphy .

Essays and smaller contributions on topics of early Greek epigraphy are published in the Kadmos. The period covered ranges from the early evidence of Greek writing culture in inscription form in linear A and B, through the archaic alphabet, to the time of Greek expansion. The classical period of ancient Greece and later epochs are no longer taken into account. Geographical borders are not set, however, the entire Mediterranean area is of interest . Reports on new finds are often published in the Kadmos. Contributions to known inscriptions are not excluded, but contributions to more recent inscriptions are preferred.

Articles can be written in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. Kadmos is published by the Berlin publisher Walter de Gruyter . The magazine, founded by its first editor Ernst Grumach , first appeared in 1962. William C. Brice followed Grumach as editor. Today Wolfgang Blümel publishes the Kadmos in connection with Brice, Claude Brixhe , Costis Davaras , Roberto Gusmani , Vassos Karageorghis , Anna Morpurgo Davies and Günter Neumann . Past Associate Editors include Ekrem Akurgal , Emmett Leslie Bennett Jr, and Olivier Masson . The circulation is currently 330 copies a year, which appear in two issues. The texts are often supplemented by black and white images.
