Hiro was a Japanese measure of length and was used to measure depth in seafaring. The measure was considered a fathom .
- 1 Hiro ( Japanese 尋 ) = 6 Shaku ( 尺 ) (Japanese feet ) = 1.818 meters
- occasionally also: 1 hiro = 5 shaku = 1,515 meters
