Hiroshima is the only hit from the British pop group Wishful Thinking , which was founded in 1965. The song is about the atomic bombing on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.

history

In 1969, the band Wishful Thinking recorded the song Hiroshima , written by Dave Morgan , and the recording was produced by Lou Reizner . The title was released in 1971 on Atlantic Records . However, the sales figures were very weak and the group soon disbanded.

In 1977 the song was played more often in German radio stations, so that German listeners became interested in the single and it was released again by the Global record company: as single Hiroshima or She Belongs to the Night . In the spring of 1978 the single finally reached number 8 in the German charts. The band started a reunion in the studio and took on another production, which however did not bring the hoped-for success. Even in their home country Great Britain they could not place themselves in the charts with the song. The band remained a one-hit wonder .

The group never performed live with their hit.

Cover versions

The song was by several performers gecovert .

The Puhdys released a German-language version on their album Computer-Karriere in 1983 . The English-language cover version of Sandra from her album Paintings in Yellow reached number four in the charts in Germany and Switzerland in early 1990.
