Deer-friendly signs

A term from the hunter's language that describes the characteristics that a piece of red deer , especially the stag, leaves on its trail . They serve to distinguish and recognize individual animals. A distinction is made between tracking signs and those that are not related to the track, e.g. B. Celestial signs . All signs are very important for confirming the deer and were developed into an art by the 18th century. In a document from the 14th century it is stated how the sex and strength of deer can be determined from the track. The deer-friendly hunter knew 72 characters, which are divided into main and subsidiary characters.
