etymology

According to legend, the deer jump got its name from a stag that jumped over this gorge, followed by a lynx. The motif of a stag jumping over a ravine is therefore also the coat of arms of the municipality of Obermaiselstein.

Rockslide

Presumably due to frost weathering , there was a large rock fall on the Hirschsprung on January 14, 2011. As a result, a preventive demolition was carried out on the slope, as experts from the Bavarian State Office for the Environment threatened further rock falls.
