The Breitach is an approximately 21 km long mountain river and the southwest and left source river of the Iller in the Allgäu Alps , in the federal states of Vorarlberg ( Austria ) and Bavaria ( Germany ).
course
The river arises in Baad , a district of Mittelberg in Kleinwalsertal through the confluence of the Turabach , Derrenbach and Bärguntbach rivers . It flows in a north-westerly direction through the valley that was formerly called Breitach Valley after him . At the Walserschanze, the Austrian-German border, the Breitach reaches German territory and squeezes through the narrow Breitachklamm . Then comes the Starzlach coming from the west . At the source of the Iller near Oberstdorf , it joins the Stillach (middle upper course) and the Trettach (right upper course) to form the Iller .
geology
The Breitach stones are geologically interesting , a brown mineral with small fragments that can only be found in the Breitach.
