course
The river has its source south of Oberstdorf . From its source , which is near the Trettachspitze at the Trettachrinne (directly on the German / Austrian border), the Trettach flows in a northerly direction through the Trettach Valley named after it (sometimes also called Spielmannsauertal after the hamlet of Spielmannsau ). It unites at the source of the Iller north of Oberstdorf with the Breitach (left upper course) and the Stillach (middle upper course) to form the Iller .
