Trettach Valley
The Trettachtal (also known as Spielmannsauertal , after the small settlement Spielmannsau ) is located in the Allgäu Alps south of Oberstdorf . On the west side it is framed by the mountains Trettachspitze , Wildengundkopf, Schmalhorn, Wildgundkopf and Himmelschrofen and on the east side by the mountains Kratzer, Fürschießer, Kegelkopf, Riefenkopf, Schattenberg and Rubihorn . In the south is the Sperrbachtobel, along which the European long-distance hiking trail E5 leads up to the Kemptner Hütte . The Trettach receives inflow from the glacier water of the Trettachrinne and from the side valleys Traufbachtal and Dietersbachtal before it leaves the valley to the source of the Iller . As far as the Spielmannsau settlement, the valley is accessible via a road closed to public traffic. Popular excursion destinations in this valley are the Christlessee and the Roßhefte chapel.
