Historical Dietrichepik

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The historical Dietrichepik as a modern literary scientific term encompasses the pieces within the Middle High German heroic poetry of the 13th century in which the material around the figure of Dietrich von Bern is received. It is based on older legends that go back to the historical model of Theodoric the Great and transform them into the time-bound sociocultural context of the high Middle Ages . First and foremost, it concerns the epics of "Dietrichs Flucht", the "Ravenschlacht" and "Alphart's death".
