Justas Dvarionas

Justas Dvarionas (* 1967 in Klaipėda ) is a Lithuanian pianist and music teacher.

Life

From the age of 2 he learned from his grandmother Aldona Dvarionienė . In 1978 Dvarionas won the international pianist competition Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte in the Czech Republic . From 1974 to 1985 he graduated from the Čiurlionis Art School in Vilnius. After graduating from high school, he completed his studies with distinction with Lev Vklassko and Mikhail Pletnev at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow . In his final year of study he won the Viotti International Piano Competition in Italy . He attended master classes with Vladimir Feltsman , Vladimir Davidovich Ashkenazi , Dmitry Alexandrovich Bashkirov , Lazar Berman , Peter Eicher , Igor Lazko and Bernard Ringeissen .

As a solo artist, chamber musician and orchestral musician, he has given concerts in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Canada, USA and Peru. He was a member of many jury committees at international competitions.

Dvarionas is involved in the European Music High Schools working group and in the European Union's umbrella organization for music competitions for young people as vice-president for international competitions.

Music pedagogue

From 1987 to 1991 Dvarionas taught in the music school at the Moscow Conservatory and from 1998 to 2003 as a lecturer at the Music and Theater Academy of Lithuania . Since 1993 he has worked as a teacher at the National Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Art School in Vilnius. His students include Gryta Tatorytė (* 1989), Dorotė Vdovinskytė (* 1998), Kasparas Mikužis (* 2001), Donata Vaitkutė (* 1993), Aušrinė Garsonaitė and others. Since September 2015 he has been teaching at the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy in Kaunas . He regularly gives masterclasses in Asia, Europe, North and South America and has been invited as a juror to international competitions several times.

family

His father was Jurgis Dvarionas (* 1943), violinist and professor. His grandfather was Balys Dvarionas (1904–1972), composer, pianist and conductor. His sister Aistė Dvarionaitė-Beržanskienė (* 1974) is a violinist and music teacher.

Justas Dvarionas is married to Agnė Dvarionienė. His daughter Justina Dvarionaitė (* 2004) is studying at the Dvarionas School in Vilnius. His second daughter Ieva Dvarionaitė (* 2010) also makes music. In 2016 she sang in the 3rd stage of the national children's song competition " Dainų dainelė " as a representative of the private "Šilagėlė" kindergarten in Vilnius.
