Socioculture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Socioculture describes the sum of all cultural , social and political interests and needs in a society or a social group. The term socio-cultural describes the close connection between social and cultural aspects of social groups and their values . Socioculture is also a technical term in cultural policy and describes a direct turn by actors and cultural institutions towards social reality and everyday life. Places of socioculture are above all socio-cultural institutions (compare socio-cultural center ). In Switzerland, the originally French term sociocultural animation has become commonplace for those who work in such institutions .

development

Today's socioculture is in a line of development that began with the 1968 movement . Peace , environmental , women's or youth center movements were looking for free space, which they often found in old factories. The idea was to develop a culture from below, independent of government influence. Self-government with democratic decision-making structures was the big motto of the time, even if that meant not receiving any state support. Today there are many intersections between cultural, educational and social work, each of which, taken individually, is a field of socioculture. Today, however, many of these practical tasks are supported by government funding. What has remained, however, is the endeavor to cultivate a culture from below.

Social sciences

In the context of social science research, “socioculture” refers to the creation, existence, change and disappearance of communities . In addition, a more empirical meaning is of particular interest: One speaks of “a socioculture” when several individuals stay in the same place at specific times for a specific period of time and thereby become a kind of community.
