Gerd Günter Koch (born September 4, 1941 in Rotenburg (Wümme) ) is a theater pedagogue , publicist, publisher and editor.

Life

Gerd Koch completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk in Bremen. He passed the Abitur on the second educational path at the Oldenburg College. He studied political science, journalism, literature and education in Berlin, Hamburg and Lüneburg with the degrees of the first state teacher examination and diploma in education. His state examination thesis was entitled Destroy the State! Marx and Bakunin on the Paris Commune . Politically he was active in the socialist office . He worked as a research assistant in the educational science department at Harm Prior (educational science and didactics of politics and social studies) at the University of Hamburg and was working on his dissertation learning with Bert Brecht. Bertolt Brecht's political and cultural education at the former Lower Saxony University of Education (PHN), Lüneburg Department (today Leuphana University Lüneburg ) is doing his doctorate.

Koch's work focuses on the theory and practice of social cultural work, theater in social fields and Bertolt Brecht's production approach as an educational concept. From 1981 to 2006 he was Professor of Education and Social Cultural Work at the Alice Salomon University (ASH) Berlin, where he was the academic director of the master’s course in Biographical and Creative Writing until 2010 . Until 2016 Gerd Koch was a juror for the Alice Salomon Poetics Prize. He works in workshops and future workshops at home and abroad.

Together with others, Gerd Koch founded the magazine for theater pedagogy correspondences and the book series Practice - Theory - Innovation. Berlin contributions to social work and care and Lingen contributions to theater education .

Until 2016 he was involved in the founding of an active museum of the languages ​​of the world and set up the monthly Salon of Languages ​​there, which he coordinated until mid-2016.

In the tradition of literary salons, Gerd Koch organizes literary afternoons to which writers and other creative people are invited. On November 17, 2011 Gerd Koch was at the University of Koçaeli (Turkey) during the "19th international Drama in Education Seminar" by Çağdaş Drama Derneği (Association for contemporary drama) because of his theoretical and practical implementation in the field of creative drama in education and theater education for his life's work. His “humanism” and his work “on the process of intercultural communication” were highlighted.
