Martin Juergens

Martin Jürgens (born January 30, 1944 in Braunsberg ) is a German writer .

Life

Martin Jürgens studied in Munich, Münster and Zurich. In 1972 he wrote his dissertation on Robert Walser , entitled "The Crisis of Representability". In 1980 he completed his habilitation with an art-sociological thesis on the subject of "Modernism and Mimesis". He then worked as a university lecturer until the end of 2000. He has had his literary and scientific publications since 1967 and has also worked as a theater director since 1981. Productions, selection: “Jakob von Gunten” by Robert Walser in Münster and “explains Pereira” by Antonio Tabucchi in Cologne. His last works for the theater in 2010 were “The Death of a Beekeeper” based on Lars Gustafsson (adaptation by Martin Jürgens), “Nipplejesus” by Nick Hornby and “Dead Man Walking” based on Sister Helen Préjean in Berlin. He also publishes in the daily media, for example in the left-wing newspaper Junge Welt .
