Hitchiti Mikasuki language

The Hitchiti-Mikasuki language belongs to the eastern subgroup of the large Muskogee language family .

Today about 500 people speak in South Florida Mikasuki.

Originally, the Mikasuki hail from northwest Florida and the areas of North and South Carolina . Hitchiti is to Mikasuki very closely related language of Hitchiti which is now extinct. Because of their close relationship, they are considered linguistically as one language.
