Persigo Semeru Hizbul Wathan Jawa Tumur, PSHW for short, is a football club from Sidoarjo , Jawa Timur , Indonesia . The club was founded in 2020 after the license was taken over by Semeru FC Lumajang.
The club currently plays in the second highest league in the country, Liga 2 .
history
The predecessor club Semeru FC Lumajang was founded in 1970 as Persigo Gorontalo and started in 2017 under the name Semeru FC. On February 25, 2020, the East Javanese representation of the Islamic organization Muhammadiyah announced the takeover of Semeru FC. The club then moved to the Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo. The chairman of the Muhammadiyah in Jawa Timur , M. Saad Ibrahm, named the motivation for taking over the club that Islamic values should be conveyed through football.
