The League 2 , to 2017 League Indonesia Premier Division , is the second highest football league Indonesia . The league is divided into an east and west relay of 12 teams each. The first four of each season reach the eighth round, in which two groups of four are played. The first and second placed in these two groups will reach the semi-finals.

history

The second division was founded parallel to the first division when the semi-professional Li ga Sepakbo la U tama (Galatama) and the amateur league Perserikatan merged. The first champion of the second division was Persikab Bandung. After some name changes, the league has been running under the name Liga 2 since 2017. The first three are promoted to League 1 .

The league is divided into two seasons, a western relay (Barat) and an eastern relay (Timur) with 12 teams each.

No foreign players are allowed to play in League 2. But there are a few naturalized foreign players, such as Persis Solo.
