Eugène Curien

Eugène Curien (born February 23, 1868 in Senones , † August 6, 1947 ibid) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of La Rochelle .

Life

The ordination received Eugène Curien on June 11, 1892. Before he was appointed Bishop of La Rochelle on 23 December 1923 he was pastor in Epinal .

The episcopal ordination donated to him on February 5, 1924 in the basilica Saint-Maurice in Épinal Alphonse-Gabriel-Pierre Foucault , Bishop of Saint-Dié ; Co - consecrators were Joseph-Marie Tissier , Bishop of Châlons , and Charles Joseph Eugène Ruch , Bishop of Strasbourg .

Eugène Curien was a co-founder of the Union des Catholiques d'Aunis et de Saintonge (UCAS), an early lay apostolate movement that arose before the Catholic Action . Major construction projects such as the L'Houmeau seminary and the church of Fétilly weighed on the diocese's finances during his tenure .

On November 8, 1937, he resigned for health reasons and was appointed titular bishop of Loryma .
