Jean-Auguste Eyssautier

Jean-Auguste-François-Eutrope Eyssautier (born November 30, 1844 in Entrevaux , † March 7, 1923 in La Rochelle ) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of La Rochelle .

Life

The ordination received Jean-Auguste-François-Eutrope EYSSAUTIER on June 6. 1868

He was elected Bishop of La Rochelle on November 27, 1906. He was ordained episcopate on November 30th of the same year by the Archbishop of Bordeaux , Cardinal Victor-Lucien-Sulpice Lécot ; Co - consecrators were Pierre-Marie-Etienne-Gustave Ardin , Archbishop of Sens , and François-Joseph-Edwin Bonnefoy , Archbishop of Aix .

The effects of the law separating church and state of 1905 fell during Eyssautier's tenure . Around 1910 he was one of those who voted for the beatification of the martyrs of Rochefort . His attitude during the First World War , especially in the event of a catastrophic explosion at the Vandier factory in La Rochelle, earned him general respect.

He died in 1923 in the episcopate.
