Cilegon is a city and an independent municipality (Indonesian Kota - city) within the western Javanese province of Banten . It takes up 3.5% of the population and 1.8% of the area of this province.
location
The industrial city of Cilegon is 44 m above sea level on the north-western tip of the island of Java at the mouth of the Cilegon River in the Ciwandan Bay. Cilegon is bounded in the east and south by the administrative district (indones. Kabupaten ) Serang, the coastline of the Sunda Strait (indones. Selat Sunda ) forms the north-western border. The municipality extends between 5 ° 52 'and 6 ° 04' south latitude and 105 ° 54 'and 106 ° 05' east longitude.

Transport, industry, tourism
Cilegon is located on National Road 1 from Jakarta to Merak and is also affected by the Jakarta-Merak railway line. One of the largest steel producers in the country ( Krakatau Steel ) and chemical companies concentrate the industry in the west of the province of Banten . In 2012, 135,024 guests stayed in the city's 27 hotels. Well-known tourist destinations are the mountains ( Gunung ) Batu Lawang and Batur, the Krakatau Country Club, the Große u. Small peacock island ( Pulau Merak Besar dan Merak Kecil ) and the beaches ( Pantai ) Kelapa Tujuh, Pulorida and Anyer.
