St. Archangel Michael Church Upninkai (lit. Upninkų Šv. Arkangelo Mykolo bažnyčia ) is a Catholic church in the village of Upninkai in the Rajongemeinde Jonava ( Lithuania ) on the left bank of the river Šventoji , north of the village in the valley of Šventoji. It belongs to the deanery of Jonava ( Archdiocese of Kaunas ).

history

Upninkai was mentioned in a document in 1442 in the will of Kristinas Astikas . The other Upninkai owner, his son Radvila Astikas until 1477 , built the first church here. In 1650 this belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Church. The Catholic Church was built in 1717 and moved to the other place in 1750. In 1845 a new church was built.
