Hobart is an international manufacturer of commercial dishwashing, cooking, food preparation and environmental technology. The Hobart Corporation is headquartered in Troy, Ohio , USA . The company has been part of the US Illinois Tool Works group since 2001 . The German branch is based in Offenburg .

The company's history goes back to the inventor of the dishwasher , Josephine Cochrane . In 1883 Charles Clarence Hobart founded an engine factory in Middletown, Ohio . The first dishwashers were manufactured there in 1886. Hobart later took over Cochrane's company. In 1930 Hobart opened the first German branch in Hamburg .

With other subsidiaries and holdings, Hobart offers a comprehensive range of washing, cooking, preparation and environmental technology for large kitchens and food production. For the German market, the company now mainly produces dishwashers for catering establishments. This product range extends from small under-counter dishwashers for use in counters to fully automated belt-type dishwashing systems for large canteens, canteens and clinics.

According to its own statements, Hobart GmbH is the global market leader in commercial warewashing technology. The Hobart Group has branches in over 60 countries and employs over 6,900 people worldwide, including almost 1,000 in Germany.

The Hobart Group's total sales in 2017 were $ 1.49 billion.
