Pallet stackers are used in particular in small warehouses with low to normal goods turnover . With the help of the floor conveyor , Euro pallets and lattice boxes in particular are stored in shelf systems or similar devices. In addition, the devices are used for the transport of goods, for loading and unloading trucks, vans and trailers as well as for work at heights of several meters. The delivery and delivery of goods within a hall with a narrow aisle width can be handled with such a high-lift truck without any problems. A distinction is made between manual and semi-electric stacker trucks.

Conditions of use

No forklift license is required to move the industrial trucks, which can be used in a similar way to a pallet truck or a forklift. Nevertheless, the personnel should be given comprehensive training in handling the industrial truck beforehand. The users must not be impaired physically or mentally. Poor eyesight and / or hearing, for example, significantly affects perception. This can lead to numerous accidents with employees or damage to the goods. The operators of the stacker trucks should receive annual instruction on how to operate the machine. The regular check-up in the sense of the G 25 occupational health check (“driving, driving and monitoring activities”) should not be neglected. In addition, personnel should wear suitable safety shoes while working with the devices.

handling

For safety reasons, both variants should not be used on a slope, but only on level and solid surfaces. The load should be in the middle of the forks to prevent the device from tipping over. The optimal position for the goods is shown in a load diagram or a load diagram. With the former, the length of the fork is given in mm on the x-axis and the weight in kg on the y-axis. In the second case it is exactly the opposite. With a load of 1000 kg e.g. B. the optimal position is 600 mm.

Manual stacker truck

General

Manual stacker trucks are controlled by hand. This sometimes requires a lot of effort - some of the vehicles have a dead weight of up to 320 kg. They can either be pulled or pushed. To enable better transport, most companies offer manual stacker trucks with forks that are matched to the length and width of Euro pallets. Thanks to the robust construction, the closed hydraulic system and the lack of a battery, manual stacker trucks require less maintenance than the semi-electric version.

Technical specifications

The industrial trucks come in various designs. They can be purchased with lift heights of 1,200 mm, 1,600 mm, 2,500 mm and 3,000 mm. As a rule, they can be loaded with a weight of 1.5 t. The standard fork height is 90 mm, the fork length 1,150 mm. The fork width is 550 mm. On average, 20 mm is set as the under-ride height.

Structure and use

The device consists of a mast, two wheels (including brakes), four load rollers, a drawbar handle, two forks and two handles.

The forks are attached to the front of the pallet stacker and are placed and lifted under the Euro pallets or other materials. This is done either with a tiller handle or a pedal . The lifting mechanism starts moving by continuously moving the handle up and down. A stroke is triggered, which pushes the lifting rod, which is connected to a crossbeam above, out of the hydraulic cylinder. The chains screwed to the frame are guided downwards via the pulleys on the traverse. The guide rollers attached to the side of the forks slide up and down the frame during the process. The forks are lowered mechanically; all you have to do is pull the lever on the drawbar. This is connected to the hydraulic unit. The lifting rod moves back into the cylinder and lowers the forks.

The lift mast moves up with the forks at the same time. The basic structure is made of steel; The fork guide is embedded in the frame. The mast consists of a single mast in the case of smaller models, and a duplex mast in the case of devices with a lifting height of 2,500 mm or more. In order to be able to move the manual stacker trucks without restriction, they are usually equipped with two 360 ° rotatable and ball-bearing steering wheels made of nylon. These are attached to the rear part of the device and have an additional parking brake on one side that can be engaged with a foot. Two or four load rollers are built into the load forks: there are two copies in each fork, which lies on a guide rail. However, these cannot be pivoted.

The manual stacker trucks can also be maneuvered using the handles attached to the left and right of the steel frame. Load protection is often attached between the frame for protection.

safety

When using a stacker truck, class I safety shoes are mandatory. In addition, depending on the type of application and the risk analysis, the safety officer can also order the wearing of a protective helmet.

Semi-electric stacker truck

General

Semi-electric high-lift truck from Proteus Lift GmbH

In the case of semi-electric stacker trucks, the load fork is steered by an electro-hydraulic system. The devices are, so to speak, a synthesis of pallet trucks and forklifts . No forklift license is required here either. There is no need to use force to move the forks, as all processes are electrical. Nevertheless, a dead weight of up to 495 kg must be taken into account when transporting the industrial truck manually. The battery can be recharged via an internal or external charger at a 230 V socket.

Technical specifications

Semi-electric stacker trucks are usually produced with a lifting height of 1,600 mm, 2,500 mm and 3,000 mm. The load capacity is 1 t. The minimum fork height is 90 mm, the fork length 1,150 mm. The standard fork width is 755 mm.

Structure and use

The device consists of a mast, two wheels (including brakes), four load rollers, a drawbar handle, two forks, a battery, a drive motor, a control panel and two handles.

In most cases, the control panel is equipped with an emergency stop switch, which enables the stacker truck to be brought to an immediate standstill. It is also provided with a battery charge indicator, an operating lever, a charging lamp, a power plug for the internal charger and a key. The battery and the drive motor are protected by a plastic housing that is attached to the base plate. The battery requires regular maintenance. The semi-electric stacker trucks often have a 360 ° rotatable steering wheel with ball bearings and a wheel that is steered by a chain. These are usually not made of nylon, as is the case with manual models, but of polyurethane. This happens mainly because of the high weight and to avoid an unpleasant noise level. Both wheels are larger than the specimens that are installed on manual stackers.

The functions and technical designs (lifting, lowering, etc.) are based on the same principle as with a manual high-lift truck. A plexiglass pane often also protects the user from falling loads.
