The Jungheinrich Aktiengesellschaft , based in Hamburg is a publicly traded German company in the truck - warehousing and material flow engineering sectors . The company ranks third worldwide in these segments and second in Europe.

history

On August 7, 1953, Friedrich Jungheinrich founded H. Jungheinrich & Co. Maschinenfabrik in Hamburg. The first branch abroad was opened in Austria in 1956. In 1958, the company headquarters and factory in Hamburg-Wandsbek were put into operation. Today's Jungheinrich AG was founded as a Swiss subsidiary on July 11, 1960 under the name “Ameise GmbH”, based in Aarau . A site in Friedrichsgabe in what is now Norderstedt was acquired in 1966 and production was gradually relocated there from Hamburg until 1984. The company's founder Friedrich Jungheinrich died on January 28, 1968. In 1974 the rental and used equipment business started with its own organization. In 1989 the new Lüneburg plant was built . The first Eastern European branches were founded in 1991 in the Czech Republic and Hungary.

In 1994 Jungheinrich acquired the Steinbock and Boss Group. The production facilities in France, Great Britain and Spain were closed and production relocated to Germany. In 2002 the group brands MIC, Steinbock and Boss were given up and since then devices have only been sold under the Jungheinrich brand name. In 2004 the Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich Foundation was established. It sponsors scholarships for students majoring in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering. In 2005 the company presented the world's first forklift truck with a rotating cabin.

In 2006, an assembly plant opened in Qingpu near Shanghai, China . Electrically powered pedestrian pallet trucks are assembled here. The manufactured low-lift and high-lift trucks are used to supply Jungheinrich sales in China and the Asian market. Also in 2006, the Dresden used equipment center for the reconditioning of used equipment started operations. In 2009 Jungheinrich started the production of electric pallet trucks in its new plant in Landsberg in Saxony-Anhalt . In 2013, a plant for warehouse and system vehicles was inaugurated in Moosburg an der Isar , the new central warehouse for spare parts in Kaltenkirchen and the new plant for industrial trucks for the Asia-Pacific region in Qingpu, and a new spare parts warehouse in Kuzayevo near Moscow in early October 2015 Put into operation. On July 1, 2015, Jungheinrich expanded the Board of Management to include the Logistics Systems division under Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach. In 2018, the Jungheinrich company with 17,877 employees generated sales of 3.796 billion euros. The head office is located in Hamburg-Wandsbek , where the company moved into its own new building at the beginning of 2016. The design comes from the Hamburg architects Prof. Klaus Sill & Assoziierte, MBN Bau AG , Georgsmarienhütte , was the general contractor .

Second, Jungheinrich implements shelving systems. These are divided into manual, semi-automatic and automatic storage systems. Examples are automatic high-bay warehouses (HBW), automatic small parts warehouses (AKL), pallet warehouses and combined systems.

Thirdly, the portfolio includes complete intralogistics solutions, both new planning and optimization of existing warehouses. The spectrum ranges from analysis through planning, project planning and implementation to after-sales service and is possible for all degrees of automation. With the Jungheinrich Profishop online shop , Jungheinrich has been offering companies a range in the areas of stacking and lifting, transport, storage, factory and office equipment, occupational safety and the environment since 2006. The range includes around 36,000 items: from the Jungheinrich product range, the traditional “Ameise” brand and products from other manufacturers. The professional shop has also existed in Austria since 2007.
