ADVA Optical Networking was founded in 1994 as a small startup by former leading employees from the microelectronics company Robotron Meiningen in Meiningen and Munich. A subsidiary in the United States and agencies in France and the United Kingdom were added in 1996 . In the next few years further branches followed, as well as several takeovers and further product generations were brought onto the market. Since 1997, the company has focused on WDM technology . The first IPO followed on March 29, 1999 in Frankfurt am Main . Further production facilities were set up in Meiningen in 2000/2001 and 2006. Products
