history

The ending -ried stands for clearing and indicates a settlement around the 7th / 8th. Century. Martinsried was first mentioned in writing in 1180 in a document from the Dietramszell monastery as “St. Martin im Riedt ”mentioned.

In 1425, the Bavarian Duke Wilhelm III. his possessions Planegg, Martinsried, Gräfelfing and rags for " Vest Planegkh " and she gave his illegitimate son Konrad von Egenhofen . Martinsried has been associated with Planegg ever since. Until 1785 the village consisted of eight houses and in 1950 only 50 house numbers are recorded.

Between 1970 and 1972, the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry and Neurobiology (formerly Psychiatry ) was built in the immediate vicinity of the University of Munich Clinic in Großhadern . In the meantime, many other companies have settled here, including the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich . The research location operates today (as of early 2015) as " Campus Martinsried ".

Infrastructure

North of Martinsried, the state road 2343 from Graefelfing to Munich leads past the place; in the south the St 2344 from Planegg to the Munich-Fürstenried motorway junction of the A 95 .

From 2020 Martinsried should be connected to the Munich subway system . On December 16, 2014, the Bavarian government decided to continue the Munich U-Bahn line 6-West from the Großhadern Clinic station to Martinsried. The € 73.5 million, 900 meter long route should be built from 2016 and go into operation in 2020. The extension of the U6 in the south to Martinsried was already decided on July 20, 2009 by the Munich district council, but the originally intended opening in 2014/2015 could not be realized. As of 2019, excavations are to begin in 2022. After the U9 brace was built , the U6 would end at the Großhadern Clinic, the U9 would continue to Martinsried. At a later time, the route could also be continued to the Planegg S-Bahn station.

Child care and education

There are four kindergartens, five crèches and two after-school care centers in the village. The community operates a primary school in the Martinsried district.
