In a document from Count Berthold VII of Henneberg (-Schleusingen), which he issued for the Rohr monastery on August 22, 1311 , Drei 30acker is mentioned for the first time as “in the dorp zu Drizichaccher”.

On October 13, 1320, the place is mentioned again as Drizichacher , when 30 acres of forest were cleared for the settlement of farmers, which also explains the place name. It belonged to the Amt Maßfeld in the county of Henneberg . In May 1525 during the Peasants' War at the Battle of Meiningen near the village, the peasant army of Bildhäuser Haufen was destroyed by princely troops.

From 1611 to 1658, witch hunts took place in Drei 30acker : four women and one man got into witch trials . The 80-year-old Anna Gramann was executed at the stake in 1611, the outcome of the other four trials is unknown.

During the Thirty Years War in 1641 imperial troops destroyed the place by setting fire to it.

In 1710 Duke Ernst Ludwig I had a hunting lodge built, which housed the first forest academy in Thuringia from 1801 to 1843 , and Johann Matthäus Bechstein was appointed its first director . Since Jewish citizens were denied the right to live in nearby Meiningen until the middle of the 19th century, a large Jewish community was formed in Drei 30acker. Since 1822 it had a synagogue, a Jewish school, a ritual bath and a cemetery that was laid out in the 17th century . In 1863 the Protestant congregation inaugurated their new church .

In 1825 the place came to the Meiningen office . After a major fire in 1867, the town center was rebuilt. In 1920 Eduard Weitsch founded a folk high school that was exemplary for Weimar popular education . In 1946, an institute for teacher training was established in the castle , which existed at the Dreizigeracker and Meiningen locations until 1990. In 1969 the Meteorological Service of the GDR , today integrated into the German Weather Service, built a weather station on the highest point of the place .

On October 1, 1990 the incorporation into Meiningen took place in order to enable the establishment of a commercial area. In 1990, around 900 people lived in Drei 30acker.

In 1991 the 89 hectare industrial area was built on the western edge of the town, and several new building areas were also built. In 1995 the new Meiningen Clinic opened , which today employs more than 900 people. Other medical facilities followed in the vicinity of the hospital. New residential areas emerged on the outskirts and with the Drei 30sacker-Süd district, and the number of inhabitants rose steadily.

The population of the district rose to 1133 citizens in 1998 and 1459 citizens in 2009. In 2018 there were 1383 residents with main residence and 98 with secondary residence.
