Einödhausen is a district of the southern Thuringian district town of Meiningen in the Franconian south of Thuringia .
location
Einödhausen is about 10 km as the crow flies south of the city center in an extended wedge-shaped valley between the southern Oberharles farmstead and Henneberg , about a kilometer away to the north, on the K 62 district road. Around the Feldmark there are wooded mountain cones of the Rhön .
history
Einödhausen was first mentioned in a document in 887 as "Einharteshusen". In 1617 the place attracted attention with the witch hunt of Margaretha Gans.
The place belonged to the old property of the County of Henneberg and when the Counts of Henneberg - Schleusingen died out in 1583, including the jurisdiction of lower jurisdiction, it was in noble hands, but belonged to the Amt of Maßfeld under sovereignty . With this he came to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen in 1680 .
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Oberharles and Unterharles were incorporated.
Belonging to the state of Thuringia since 1920 , the place came to the Suhl district of the GDR in 1952 . Since 1990 the place belongs again to the Free State of Thuringia. In the course of the regional reform of 1994 Einödhausen became a district of Henneberg. Both places were incorporated into the district town of Meiningen as an exclave on January 1, 2019 . Today, artists draw attention to themselves and the district with their art. Around 100 people live in Einödhausen.
