Oberharles
Oberharles is a deserted area and a former hamlet in the district town of Meiningen near the districts of Henneberg and Einödhausen in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in southern Thuringia .
location
Oberharles is located two kilometers south of Henneberg as the crow flies on the upper reaches of the Harlesbach at an altitude of 367 m. The narrow valley is bordered by the Salzkopf in the east and the Wolfsberg - Fräuleinsberg ridge in the west. The district road K 62 leads past the former hamlet from Henneberg via Einödhausen to the hamlet of Unterharles, 500 meters south .
history
The hamlet of Oberharles was first mentioned in a document in 1820, and according to other sources, the two individual farms in the village were already mentioned in 1344 and 1464. In 1950, Oberharles and Unterharles were incorporated into Einödhausen. By order of the border organs of the GDR, the place was forcibly emptied by 1982 and the three residential buildings and two courtyards were demolished. Only two farm buildings have been preserved.
As part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , Einödhausen and Oberharles came to the district town of Meiningen.
