Paul Ciupke

Paul Ciupke (* 1953 ) is a German adult educator and educational historian .

Life

Ciupke studied pedagogy, sociology and psychology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and graduated as a qualified teacher. After completing his studies, he worked in community work and worked from 1980 to 2018 in the management team of the educational institute of the Humanist Union. He was a co-founder of the state working group for another further training in North Rhine-Westphalia , lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

Act

The focus of his work is contemporary history, East Central Europe, the Ruhr area and structural change as well as educational and cultural history.

He has published books and essays on the past and present of adult education, on coming to terms with National Socialism, on learning in other places and on further education policy. From 1997 to 2001 he worked on the editorial team of the fundamental rights report of several German civil rights organizations, which has been published annually since then .

Since 2004 he has also been co-editor of the journal “Extra-School Education” on behalf of the nationwide Working Group of German Educational Institutions and represents this association at the general assembly of the German Institute for Adult Education and in the “Basic Issues of Political Education” working group of the Federal Committee for Political Education (bap).
