The Backhaus Nahrstedt produced Meininger district Dreißigacker baked goods of all kinds. It sells its products in 83 own stores in southern and western Thuringia, in Lower Franconia and in the greater Coburg in Upper Franconia , among which are some 30 cafés and bistros, the company in the form of a Operates system catering . In the 1990s, the business developed from a simple bakery to a large-scale bakery and from 2002 to a restaurant business. In addition to bread and rolls, the company also produces other baked goods such as cakes and tarts.

history

The Nahrstedt bakery was founded in 1964 as a small private craft business in Finsterbergen , a district of Friedrichroda since 2007 , by Wolfgang and Brigitte Nahrstedt in a rented bakery, which was a rarity in the GDR at the time. In 1970 the bakery moved to a former bakery that it had bought itself on Georgstrasse in Meiningen. In 1977 another move took place to Zeuthen near Berlin. 1983 Ralf Nahrstedt took over the management of the bakery.

In 1989, the Nahrstedt bakery returned to Meiningen by buying back their house and bakery. Ralf Nahrstedt opened his first branch in Meiningen in 1991 and the number of employees rose to twelve. In the same year, the master baker had a new large-scale bakery built in the Meiningen-Drei 30acker industrial park. In 1992, seven more new branches followed. As an innovation , the bakery has dispensed with artificial additives and preservatives in the production of bread and rolls since 1996. In 1996, the Nahrstedt bakery was awarded the “Marktkieker Prize” for this.

In 1995, 1997/98, 2000 and 2005, Nahrstedt had the regular bakery expanded several times and set up an auto drive-in there. In 2002, Nahrstedt opened its first coffee shop on the market in Meiningen. The original bakery in Meininger Georgstrasse was replaced in 2007 by a modern new building with a glass facade. The house in the pedestrian zone, designed by architect Karsten Merkel, has since housed the “Georg Cafe” on two floors and shows numerous historical photos of Georgstrasse in its guest rooms with a photo gallery.

The Nahrstedt bakery now has 83 self-operated sales outlets, including ten at its headquarters in Meiningen. The approximately 400 employees include 26 trainees who are learning the professions of bakers and salespeople. For its constant apprenticeship training, the Backhaus was nominated in 2008 for the “MuT Entrepreneur Award” of the IHK Südthüringen in the category “Trainer of the Year”. Backhaus Nahrstedt Premium GmbH was founded in 2007 and Backhaus Nahrstedt Center GmbH in 2009 . These companies are responsible for the distribution of the baked goods and the operation of the catering facilities.
