Drive-in
In a drive-in , services are offered without the customer having to leave their car .
The term drive-in is a sham Anglicism . The actual English term is called Drive-through , shortened Drive-thru (from English [to] drive through / thru = "[to] drive through") in contrast to Drive-in (from English [to] drive in = " drive into") "[He] drive in"). Since "through" is unpronounceable for many German native speakers, the term "drive-in" is used in German-speaking countries.
The term drive-in in the USA means a fast-food restaurant in which the customer is served in the parked car, or a drive-in cinema . Today the latter facilities are a rarity.
McDonald’s uses its own trademark McDrive , which is not used in the United States.
