Garth Murray (born September 17, 1982 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been with the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League since 2009 .

Career

Garth Murray began his career as a hockey player with the Regina Pats , for which he was active in the Western Hockey League from 1998 to 2002 . During this time he was in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the third round than a total of 79 players from the New York Rangers selected for which he in the 2003/04 season, his debut in the National Hockey League was, in his he rookie year in Scored a goal in 20 games. These were also the only appearances in the NHL for the attacker in the New York Rangers franchise. The rest of the time from 2002 to 2005 he played for their farm team , the Hartford Wolf Pack from the American Hockey League .

On September 30, 2005 Murray was given in exchange for Marcel Hossa to the Montréal Canadiens , for which he ran up in the following two seasons as well as for their AHL farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs . In November 2007, the Florida Panthers signed the left-handed shooter, for which he only played six games by the end of the season before he was on the ice for the Phoenix Coyotes for a year . However, the Canadian spent most of the season at their AHL Farmtean San Antonio Rampage . On July 1, 2009, the center was hired as a free agent by the Calgary Flames .

International

For Canada , Murray took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2002 , where he finished second with his team.
