history

In August 2008 the computer manufacturer Gericom from Linz was taken over by the Taiwanese company Quanmax Inc. , which took over 61.32% of the shares. Gericom had previously recorded a drastic drop in sales, the share price had also slumped by 96% from 2003 to 2008. Gericom then became a subsidiary of Quanmax Inc. Shortly after the takeover, the company name was adapted to the new owner and Gericom AG was renamed Quanmax AG. The parent company Quanmax Inc., in turn, is partly owned by the hardware manufacturer Quanta Computer , the German Kontron AG and the China Development Bank .

Quanmax Inc. had already taken over the Austrian notebook manufacturer chiliGREEN Computer GmbH , also based in Linz, a few months earlier and continued to operate it as a subsidiary. At the beginning of 2009, chiliGREEN was fully integrated into the newly created Quanmax AG, but the brand names "chiliGREEN" and "PROWORX" were still used.

In 2008 Quanmax also acquired the trademark rights to the Maxdata brand , under which computer products were manufactured and sold.

Michael Jeske, chairman of the supervisory board, Hannes Niederhauser, the long-time head of the German embedded computer manufacturer Kontron AG, became chairman of the board of the new Quanmax AG. Quanmax AG has now been transformed from a trading company to a technology company with its own product development.

With the Qute PC 1000 , the company's first in-house development was presented in August 2009, a fanless mini PC with an Intel Atom processor. All products are manufactured either in Linz or by qualified partners according to the so-called “ build-to-order system”.

Quanmax, or meanwhile S&T, has been listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since mid-2010 . Also in 2010 Quanmax took over the insolvent online games company “Funworld AG”, and in January 2011 the software manufacturer “CBC-X GmbH” was also taken over.

At the beginning of 2012, the voting rights of the Taiwanese Quanmax Inc. were only around 46.5%. At the beginning of 2013, less than a third of the company's shares were owned by the former parent company.

In 2012 Quanmax merged with S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution. S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG was merged with Quanmax AG, which was then renamed S&T AG. In 2014 S&T founded Maxdata GmbH based in Mendig. Two years later the brands Maxdata, PROWORX and chiliGREEN were sold to Omega Handelsgesellschaft in Vienna.

With the entry into Networked Energy Services Corp. ("NES"), California (USA), Affair OOO , Russia , and the purchase of the Austrian ubitronix system solutions GmbH , S&T entered the smart energy sector in 2014.

In September 2016, the S&T AG share was included in the TecDAX index by Deutsche Börse .

In October 2016, S&T acquired the “IT market” customer segment from the Raiffeisen Informatik Group . Within the Raiffeisen Informatik Group, this segment comprised business with customers who are not part of the Raiffeisen Group. The portfolio includes the service business in the areas of data center operation, SAP operation or SAP consulting and software development in the area of collaboration management software.

In the same year S&T got involved in the German embedded computer manufacturer Kontron . The purchase was largely financed by the Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn , which acquired a capital increase of almost 30 percent in S&T AG. On August 17th, Kontron was merged with S&T; it will be continued as a brand .

The company achieved sales of 1,122.9 million euros in 2019 and had 4,934 employees worldwide as of December 31, 2019.

Service portfolio

In the reporting, S & T's service portfolio is divided into the areas of "IT services" (consulting / implementation / outsourcing), "IoT solutions" (hardware, middleware and services in the areas of "Internet of Things" and "Industry 4.0") and "embedded systems" (industrial hardware products, e.g. for the transport, aviation and communications sectors).
