JOST is a manufacturer and supplier of safety-relevant systems for commercial vehicles. The company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since July 20, 2017.

history

The company was founded in 1952 as a factory for ball bearing turntables. Four years later, the production of fifth wheel couplings began. JOST expanded to South Africa as early as 1960 and opened a plant in Chloorkop. A second plant in Germany was built in 1980 in Wolframs-Eschenbach to expand capacity . In 2000, the JOST plants expanded into the United States and opened a plant in Greeneville , Tennessee . A year later, the manufacturer of towbars Rockinger was taken over. In 2008, JOST was taken over by the private equity company Cinven . Further takeovers followed in 2008 with the manufacturer of trailer axle steering systems TRIDEC and Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems and in 2012 with the takeover of Edbro , a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders . The company went public on July 20, 2017. Until January 2018, the previous owner Cinven sold all of the shares in JOST. The company has been on the SDAX since March 19, 2018 . The takeover of the Swedish company Ålö Holding AB , which specializes in agricultural front loaders , took place in 2020.

Locations

JOST has sales and production sites in over 20 countries on five continents. In Germany there are plants in Neu-Isenburg, Wolframs-Eschenbach and Waltershausen .
