Apostolate of the High Church of St. Ansgar

The High Church Apostolate St. Ansgar (HAStA) is a community of Evangelical Lutheran Christians belonging to the German High Church Movement .

It was founded in 1968 by the Gelsenkirchen district vocational school pastor Karl August Hahne . After Hahne's death on April 25, 1982, Helmut Tramnitz , professor of artistic organ playing at the State University for Music in Detmold, headed the Apostolate of the High Church. From 1985 to 2014 Pastor Emeritus Karsten Bürgener, who died in January 2019, was in charge of the HAStA. Since May 2014 the HAStA has been headed by Matthias Niche, the head of the St. Michael community (Cottbus).

The St. Michael community in Cottbus is part of the HAStA . The priory of Sankt Wigberti and the Congregatio Canonicorum Sancti Augustini are closely connected to the high church apostolate .
