Real-time, high-precision positioning service
The high-precision real-time positioning service ( HEPS ) enables surveyors to perform exceptionally accurate measurements. The basis is data from the satellite reception of the GPS system and SAPOS correction signals.
procedure
The respective state survey offices in Germany operate numerous GPS reference stations in order to continuously evaluate the accuracy of the GPS signals. The correction data are then processed centrally and can be called up in real time by the surveyors within the framework of SAPOS. For this purpose, the surveyors are equipped with a GSM mobile phone in addition to the professional GPS equipment . This mobile phone establishes a corresponding data connection to the regional land surveying office, and the current GPS correction data can be offset against the conventional GPS data in the field.
accuracy
The accuracy of conventional GPS is around five meters. The accuracy when using the HEPS is 1–2 cm in position and 2–3 cm in height.
Applications
In addition to its use in cadastral areas , HEPS is also used to measure underground cables and pipes.
advantage
The surveyor already has the exact survey data in the field and in real time. Extensive post-processing can largely be dispensed with. The use of the GSM network for this is possible almost everywhere in Germany and is very inexpensive.
