The Meiningen Academy of Dramatic Arts was a drama school in the Thuringian district town of Meiningen .

history

The Meiningen Academy of Dramatic Arts was founded on September 28, 1919 and was affiliated with the Meiningen Court and State Theater . The initiator was the then director Franz Ulbrich . The drama school continued the great tradition of the Meiningen theater in the education and training of young acting eleven by the Helene Freifrau von Heldburg , the wife of "theater duke" Georg II , at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

At the Academy of Dramatic Arts , the subjects of role studies, reading, the art of giving presentations, teamwork, facial expressions and sign language were taught. The students continued to draw the teachers to public auditions and productions at the theater. The "Dramaturgische Blätter" with original articles by well-known authors and theater scholars were published as a university paper. The lecturers and teachers included Franz Nachbaur, Martin Homburg, Fanny Stolzenberg, Margit Hellberg and Rudolf Fuchs.

After Franz Ulbrich left for Weimar in 1925 and Franz Nachbaur died in 1926, the theater was closed and only private acting classes took place. The university was then dissolved after a short existence.
