University Association for Information Science
The University Association for Information Science Konstanz e. V. is a scientific association for German-language information science . Its members come primarily from Germany , Austria and Switzerland .
founding
The HI was founded as part of the first international symposium for information science in October 1990 at the University of Konstanz . The founders included professors of German-language information science, including Norbert Henrichs (Düsseldorf), Jürgen Krause (Regensburg, later Bonn / Koblenz), Rainer Kuhlen (Konstanz), Wolf Rauch (Graz), Gernot Wersig (Berlin) and Harald Zimmermann (Saarbrücken) .
aims
In its statutes, the association has set itself the goal of "cooperation between information science training and research institutions and the related transfer of knowledge and technology between scientists as well as science, industry and authorities".
As a university association, it has also taken on the task of revising and coordinating information science curricula .
activities
The main activities include
- the organization of the International Symposium on Information Science, which has been taking place regularly since 1990, in 2015 in Zadar (Croatia),
- the publication of the series of publications on information science, which is published by Werner Hülsbusch Verlag (vwh) and now (as of 2015) comprises 63 volumes. and
- the award of the Gerhard Lustig Prize for the best information science thesis of the last two years.
Furthermore, the association regularly publishes special issues for the information science journal Information - Wissenschaft und Praxis (IWP).
