Hoda Barakat

Hoda Barakat , also Huda Barakat ( Arabic هدى بركات, DMG Hudā Barakāt ; * 1952 in Beirut ), is a Lebanese writer who lives in exile in Paris .

Hoda Barakat grew up in a Maronite family. She studied French, married a Muslim and left Lebanon in 1989 with her two sons. She began her career as an Arabic author in Paris. She first became known for works that were set during or after the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990).
