Hofer Volksfest
The Hofer Volksfest takes place annually at the end of July / beginning of August at the Volksfestplatz in Hof and lasts ten days. The Hofer Volksfest is the largest festival in the region. It has the slogan Do meet fei alla!

The history of the folk festival goes back to the year 1432, the target shooting society was founded here and held an annual shooting festival that was purely for shooting members. It is said: "Anno 1540, on the Sunday after Egidii, the 5th of September, the big shooting was started and held here, which many strangers from other cities and places have visited" . The beginnings of the fair, which is open to everyone, go back to 1861. For the inauguration of the new rifle house, a festival took place in 1861 at the limestone quarry of the hospital - today's fairground. From 1898 there were efforts of a Schwabach entrepreneur to organize a folk festival "with lucky stalls and show booths, carrousells, beer bars, music and a balloon climb" . The city magistrate rejected the request. From 1905 the Hofer Schützen held a folk festival parallel to their main shooting, from 1912 the city of Hof took over the organization of the folk festival.
Due to the corona pandemic, the 2020 Volksfest could not take place. As a replacement for the big event, the Hof Summer Fun is held. Various rides and stalls are distributed at different points in the city. The biggest attraction is a 30 meter high Ferris wheel on the Zentralkauf area, other places are at Neuhof train station , at the old Sparkasse in Neuhof , at Wirthplatz, in the Saaleauen , at Rekkenzeplatz and in Wittelsbacherpark.

The Freedom Hall on the fairground serves as a festival hall during the festival. The folk festival begins on the Friday before the Hof summer fair. The summer fair itself begins on the Monday after Jakobi (July 25th). On the opening day, the big fair parade with around 4000 participants from the Hof clubs and organizations takes place. After a week, on the second Friday of the Volksfest, after dark, a fireworks display will be set off for the festival visitors near the fairground.
