Hofzeile and Handzeile were two measures in Bavaria and were used in salt works . The hand line measure was the amount of salt that could be removed from the brewing pan in three hours .

  • 1 Hand 48 = line load of = 16 slices = about 29 quintals (after Rudolf of Carnall 24 cwt)
  • 1 yard row = 34 quintals = about 20 quintals (Rudolf von Carnall 17 quintals)

In Reichenhall and Bavaria one calculated:

  • 1 loader = 56 pounds of 498 grams each . (The volume measure was calculated as a unit of mass).
