House Hohe Strasse 51

The house at Hohe Straße 51 in Düsseldorf-Carlstadt is a listed building with an Art Nouveau facade . The three-story plastered building was built in the first half of the 19th century. A courtyard wing was added in 1859, and a shop window was installed on the ground floor in 1878. The facade was redesigned in the Art Nouveau style in 1900 based on designs by the Düsseldorf architect Fritz Niebel , the ground floor was changed again in 1927, and the basement was rebuilt in 1939.

The Art Nouveau facade is divided into four axes, the entrance is on the left of the building. The upper floors show a pronounced vertical structure. Vegetable ornaments reach up to the eaves, which are strongly curved. The structure summarizes the window axes in pairs. The central axis of each pair is emphasized by a tile facing and on the eaves by an owl sitting on a mask. The house has a gable roof with a gaupe.
