Hohenberg (noble family, Pfinzgau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Counts of Hohenberg , Counts of the Pfinzgau near Karlsruhe , were a noble family that only appeared in a few documents at the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th century and should not be confused with the Swabian Counts of Hohenberg .

Count Berthold von Hohenberg, Count im Pfinzgau († March 3, 1110), appears as the founder of the Gottesaue monastery near Karlsruhe (probably 1094). It can now be considered largely certain that he is the same person as Berthold von Lindenfels , the governor of the Lorsch Imperial Abbey . With his son Berthold the Younger, who is attested as Count von Lindenfels in 1123, this line of the sex died out in the male line .
