Hollow thorns

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hollow thorns is the thorns and piercing related manufacturing processes . All of these count towards indentation , which in turn forms a process group of pressure forming.

Hollow mandrels use a hollow tool to mandrel a workpiece. Material also flows into the interior of the tool. The tool movement is straight, mostly perpendicular to the surface. There is no sliding over the surface. The hollow mandrel is mainly used to produce continuous holes (open on both sides) in workpieces that are particularly high compared to their total cross-sectional area. For thin workpieces, perforation is sufficient. In addition, the cylindricity of the bores with hollow mandrels is higher than with other methods. Application examples are valves in fluid technology that are loaded by pressure forces.
