Hollow Stone (Dittmannsdorf)

Geology / description

The cliffs fill a chasm of the Waldkirchen Fault, a geological fault zone in the area of Zschopau . This can be traced in a south-easterly direction. Quartz blocks and stones can sometimes be found in the fields. The predominant type of rock is quartz combined with mica schist . The occasional occurrence of iron ore oxides was the reason for occasional mining attempts.

The cliffs can be reached via a hiking trail from Dittmannsdorf to Witzschdorf . From these you can see the center of Dittmannsdorf with its church.
