Holger Noltze

Holger Noltze (* 1960 in Essen ) is a German journalist , television presenter and professor for music and media / music journalism at the TU Dortmund .

Noltze grew up in the Ruhr area. After graduating from high school, he studied German , Hispanic and history in Bochum and Madrid. He received his doctorate in Bochum with a dissertation on the Parzival novel by Wolfram von Eschenbach . During this time he was already writing about opera performances in the WAZ and for the Berlin taz, among others . He also wrote reports as well as music and literary reviews and a. for the FAZ , NZZ , the “ Opernwelt ” and the FAZ-Magazin .

His broadcasting career began in 1990 when he was doing an internship at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. Then he was editor and presenter of the WDR2 culture magazine Budengasse as well as the series Mosaik in the radio program of WDR3 . He had been on the air with Eins Live since 1995 with the nighttime talk radio last words , before he had his first television engagement in 1997 with the moderation of the show NachtKultur on WDR television . He then also acted as literary editor and moderator in the WDR3 book journal Gutenbergs Welt . In 2000, Noltze moved to Deutschlandfunk as the new editor-in-chief for current culture .

From 2001 to 2015 he was one of the hosts of the socio-political talk show west.art on WDR television.

In September 2005 Noltze was appointed professor for music and media / music journalism at the Institute for Music and Musicology at the Technical University of Dortmund . Here he initiated the music journalism course and founded the lecture series Dortmund Lessons on Music Education in the concert hall there . His book Liebestod. Wagner, Verdi, wir was voted Book of the Year in 2013 by Opernwelt magazine's critics survey. From 2013 to September 2017, Noltze was the spokesman for the Council for Cultural Education, which is based in Essen.

Together with Benedikt Stampa, the artistic director of the Dortmund Konzerthaus and the manager and entrepreneur Hanns-Ferdinand Müller , Noltze founded Classiconn GmbH in 2015. Classiconn has been operating the website www.takt1.de since August 2016. An online platform for classical music, which is also available in English at www.takt1.com.

Noltze lives in Cologne and Dortmund.
