from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dutch-Argentine cattle (Spanish: Holando-Argentino ) is a breed of cattle from Argentina , which is descended from the black and white lowland cattle .

In 1880 Black Holstein cattle were exported from the Netherlands to the fertile regions of the Pampas . Since then, they have been bred there as a dual-purpose breed based on meat and milk .

Today you can find Dutch-Argentine cattle in the Argentine provinces of Buenos Aires , Santa Fe , Córdoba and Entre Ríos , but also in the river plains in Salta , Tucumán , Formosa , Catamarca and Mendoza . They were also exported to neighboring countries. They are mainly kept for milk production.

The "Breeders Association for the Dutch-Argentine Cattle" ( Asociación Criadores de Holando-Argentino ('ACHA')) was founded in 1944 and specifies the breeding goals for the breed.
